The Ball, the hoop, the style - NBA's specialties

NBA is all about the ball and the hoop. The hoop is a circular rim of size 18 inches in diameter and is situated at a height of 10 feet from the ground. It is mounted on a backboard. What the player has to do is to shoot the ball and drop it in the hoop of the opponent to score points. A shooting team gets two points if the player touches or is closer to the three point line and scores three points if out side the three point line and drops the ball in hoop.

According to the rules of NBA the team with more numbers of points wins the game. Overtime is given when both the teams score even points at the end of the game. At the end of overtime the highest scorer is declared winner. In the field the ball can be forwarded in different actions, by running, by walking, by passing on to fellow team players, by dribbling etc. According to NBA rulebook, it is foul to “walk with the ball” known as carry or to hold the ball and then resume the game. This is also known as double dribble.

In Major League Baseball four umpires are assigned to each game. One umpire reviews the game from the home plate position, one from the first base, one from the third base line and one in the infield near to the second base. Standing at any of these positions, the umpires only review the progress of the game and in no way hinder the play. The umpires are generally masters of the rules of the game of baseball and of great repute.
